I hate spending a ton of money on a costume that gets worn one time, so I always look for stuff that we have around the house. It just so happened that Carter had an authentic Moroccan shirt and hat (and pants, but they were too short). He loved the idea of being a missionary, so we slapped some sandals on him and gave him a Bible and he was ready to go. The sweet part was that he told anyone that would listen at the Fall Festival that it was his job to tell people about God. And he actually looked pretty cute!
Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

Halloween 2009
I feel the need to post a disclaimer for all of my friends that are either preacher's kids or missionary's kids (or maybe are currently missionaries with kids and also a preacher's daughter)- please know that it was not my intention to feed any stereotypes. This was all done in good fun! I promise.

Evyn happened to have a styling pair of heels in her closet, so we put that with a mini skirt and a mildly rebellious t-shirt and called her a preacher's kid. I considered coloring her hair or pinning a candy cigarette to her shirt but thought that might be going too far!

My Big Girl.
Just a few sweet pictures of my sweet little girl to share today. I love those brown eyes.

She had pajama day at school this week. Pretty cute, no?

Pictures from the weekend.
My parents gave Carter a pair of Liederhosen after a trip to Europe. He wore them for Halloween a few years ago and rediscovered them in his closet this weekend. He insisted on wearing them and then did a string a fabulous poses for the camera. This is his excited face.

Scary face.
We are having family pictures done on Friday, so I told him to give me a handsome smile. This is what I got. Cute? Yes. The smile that I want in family pictures? Not really.
Evyn normally wakes up with her hair looking all kinds of wild, but she actually woke up looking sweet and tame this morning. I love her cheeks so much. And you can just imagine how good she smells. There is nothing better than a squishy baby first thing in the morning. I love it!
She looks so grown up to me in these pictures. I couldn't resist posting them. Check out how curly her hair is in this one. At her well check on Friday, she weighed 18 pounds 8 ounces (15th percentile for weight)- I marvel at how tiny she is. This is a 3-6 month dress that still fits her just fine.
She was crawling towards me, then stopped and posed for me before continuing on her way. Precious.
As I type this, the cat is laying next to me on the couch snoring like an old man, and Mike is asking me if I want him to give me the chills. (Crack an egg on your head and the yolk is running down.) Just one more glimpse into my own little paradise! Liederhosen, my sweet little pumpkin, a very old cat, and a silly man that I am crazy in love with. Another great weekend for me!
Scary face.

Happy Birthday, Dear Evyn
One year ago today, God brought the most amazing little brown eyed blessing into my life. She has had my heart ever since. The last year has flown by. It delights me to watch her grow and learn and change. She perfectly completes our family and has stolen all of our hearts.

The birthday girl! Evyn May Lewis- October 22, 2009
She was adorable with her presents! She actually sort of payed attention to everything that she got!
This was her favorite! Thanks, Grammy!

The cousins all really get along so well! This was the best that we managed to do at getting a picture of them all together.
Evyn, you are so sweet and snuggly and I love you so very much. There is no gift that I could give you to tell you how much I love you. I remember the very first time that I saw you and I knew that you would have a special place in my heart from that very first moment. I think back on holding you through the night on the night that you were born and there is nothing that I would trade for those sweet hours with the newness of you. You are everything that is good in the world. I love you, precious girl. Happy birthday!

Catch!
Evyn has recently discovered how to throw a ball and she is so very proud of herself. She throws it and chases it and giggles and claps! Adorable! Tonight we played a little family game of catch.

Pumpkin Patch
Every year we head out to the pumpkin patch to take some fun pictures! Last year, we went the Saturday before Evyn was born, and we realized on our way over that today is the Saturday before her birthday! It is really cool to watch these sweet babies grow up through pictures. Here are some fun shots from today:
